Romans 8
I've been working my way through Romans in my personal quiet time and came across a couple of verses that amazed me and I wanted to share them with you. I hope this reminds you how GREAT our God is, and encourages you today.
Romans 8:26-27: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
Romans 8:34: Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
How amazing that Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit are interceding for us!
I recently did a study on prayer that spent some time talking about intercession. It had a great definition of intercession that has helped me to understand it better. "Intercession - using my access to God on another's behalf." It is taking someone else's request to God and asking Him to look on that person the way he looks on you; to show them the favor that He shows you.
With that in mind, read those verses again. How amazing! Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit have empathy for us, our needs and our desires, and they are using their access to God the father on our behalf (in accordance with God's will). They are asking God to look on us the way that He looks on them, to show us the favor that He shows them. How amazing! How humbling.
Thank you Jesus and Holy Spirit for loving me interceding on my behalf. I am so humbled that you, my King, would do this for me.
